Originally from Los Angeles, California, mezzo soprano Kelly Birch has now made her home in Kansas City, Missouri where she performs regularly with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and throughout the Heartland.

She completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in 2017 and has several years of performance experience ranging across opera, concert, choral, recital, and musical theater. She especially enjoys collaborating with composers of 21st century new music.

This past summer Ms. Birch joined the Aspen Music Festival & School in Aspen, Colorado to perform the roles of Desiree Armfeldt in Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Marcellina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Harvey Steiman of The Aspen Times praised both of her performances, saying:

"Kelly Birch as Desiree Armfeldt carried herself with the glamor of a stage star and delivered a perfectly pitched “Send In The Clowns..."

"Her stature [of Marcellina], sure approach to intonation and tone, and attention to the music’s little details paid off every time she opened her mouth."

For this upcoming year, Ms. Birch is excited to return to the Lyric Opera of Kansas City for two role debuts: Alisa in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Mrs. Massey in Paul Moravec's The Shining. Please click on the link below to access her full resume.
