Originally from Los Angeles, mezzo soprano Kelly Birch is currently based out of Kansas City, Missouri where she received her DMA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 2017. She studies with Tenor Vinson Cole.

 

For the 2018-2019 season she joined the Kansas City Lyric Opera as their Mezzo Resident Artist. She performed as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Miss Todd in Menotti's The Old Maid and The Thief, Sally in Barber's A Hand of Bridge, and studied the role of Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte.

Originally from Los Angeles, mezzo soprano Kelly Birch now resides in Kansas City, having recently completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.​ She also holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of California, Irvine and a Master of a Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory. An active operatic and concert performer, Dr. Birch has sung regularly with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City since 2015 and with Musica Sacra since 2016. She performed Gustav Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony under the baton of Kyle Pickett and the Topeka Symphony Orchestra in April 2016 and that summer made her European debut in the role of Suzuki in Puccini's Madama Butterfly with the Varna International Opera Academy in Bulgaria. She will be going back to Varna in May 2018 to perform the title role in Maurice Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. Last year she traveled to San Diego to perform the role of Delfa in Cavalli's Giasone with Opera NEO and will be returning in July 2018 to perform the role of Rosmira in Handel's Partenope. March and April of this year have her touring the midwest to premier art songs for the National Association of Composers USA and the Society of Composers, Inc. In the summer of 2019, Ms. Birch attended the Aspen Music Festival & School to perform the role of Desiree Armfeldt in Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Marcellina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro.

For the 2019-2020 season, Ms. Birch will return to Lyric Opera of Kansas City to perform the role of Alisa in their Spring production of Lucia di lammermoor and Mrs. Massey in The Shining.
